For welding fan wheels, LTI Metalltechnik trusts in a chained robot system by CLOOS. The system has four loading and unloading and three identical welding stations. An intelligent shuttle system connects the stations with each other. Via a magnetic code at the fixture the shuttle recognises in the loading area to which welding station the component has to be brought. Each of the three welding cells disposes of a workpiece positioner with turning and swivelling movement to position the complex workpiece perfectly for welding. Due to the new robot system, LTI could more than double the speed when welding the fan wheels and save time because of the fully-automated handling. Furthermore, the robots ensure maximum process reliability.
